  We are named after NASA astronaut Ronald E. McNair. Ronald Ervin McNair, the second African American to fly in space was born on October 20, 1950 in 
Lake City, South Carolina.

On the morning of January 28, 1986, McNair and his six fellow crewmembers
 died tragically in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger (STS-51L)


 

The McNair supports charitable organizations, science education in the Columbia area, and to build a positive future in the optimistic spirit found in the Star Trek television series and movies. We also enjoy recreational opportunities..
