 Melha & Shrine Unit Links
   

The Berkshire Shrine Club will attempt to identify and publish web site links for these units if every developed.

 

 Unit Names/Web Sites Stated Purpose
Burns Brigade
Meets third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. For anyone interested in fire prevention and burns awareness. Outreaches to public, especially children.
Clowns
Meets on the first and third Friday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Active in parades, at Shrine Circus, and many private functions to raise money for Shriners Hospital. Will train new recruits as needed.
Directors
Meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Called the "Good Guys in the White Coats" by many, their primary functions are to give tours at the Shrine Hospital and to work at Melha.
Drum Corps
Meets every Friday. Valve bugles, glockenspiels, cymbals, snare and bass drums all form part of the oldest musical unit in Melha. Will gladly teach new members.
Melha Flyers
Meets on the third Friday of every month. Anyone with an interest in airplanes will enjoy this unit. A pilot's license is not required.
Hadji Meets on the Second Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Composed of many motorized sub-units, such as Go Carts meet first Monday of the month, Jeepsters second Thursday of the Month, Mini Bikes third Monday of the Month, Mini Scooters second Tuesday of the Month, Model T's second Thursday of the Month, Mopeds second Wednesday of the Month, Trykes first Sunday f the Month at the Hospital, Mini Monsters second Thursday of the Month and Big Rigs first Thursday of the Month.
Highlanders
The Melha Highlander's are a bagpipe band that performs at local parades and other functions. They are a small unit of a larger organization called the Melha Shrine Center. We are located in the Springfield, Massachusetts area.
Meets every Monday at 7:30 p.m. A true pipe band for anyone interested in the Scottish heritage. Will work with new bagpipers.
Legion of Honor
Meets every Tuesday. For anyone currently serving in or having an honorable discharge from any branch of the military. The color guard for all Shrine functions and parades.
Military Band
Meets every Tuesday. Full band instrumentation found here. Active in parades and numerous concerts throughout area.
Oriental Band Meets every Friday 7:00 p.m. Arabic costumes and instruments help this fun-loving crew charm more than snakes. No previous musical experience required.
Past Masters Meet on fourth Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Members must be or have been Worshipful Master of a Masonic Lodge. Busy with degree teams and public Masonic plays.
Vintage Autos Meet first Tuesday and third Friday of every month. If you share the love of classic and antique cars, this is the unit for you. Frequently seen in Shrine parades and hosting one of the area's best car shows.
Burns Brigade
Meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. For anyone interested in fire prevention and burns awareness. Outreaches to public, especially children
Hillbillies
Meets bi-monthly on third Wednesday. Unique in that the ladies can also join. Colorful "degree" for initiation. Raise funds to support Shrine Hospitals.
K-9's for Kids
Meets on the third Saturday of every month at the Shriner's Hopital at 1:30 PM. For dog lovers, these animals are trained to entertain the children in our hospitals.
Mariners
Meets on the last Thursday of month September through June at 7:00 p.m.. Boats are their passion, many of their get-togethers are held on the water.
Olde Timers
Meets on the third Friday of evey month at 6:00 p.m. for dinner. Contrary to what the name implies, any Shriner can join. Assists novelty sales at Shrine Circus.
Ramblin' Campers
Meets on the third Wednesday, March through October. For camping enthusiasts, from the smallest pop up to the fanciest camper trailer. Frequent events with other Shrine groups from around the country.

The Melha Riders Web Site 
The Melha Riders are a group of men who gather together on a volunteer basis to achieve one goal. "They ride so kids can walk"...Meets on the first Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. The common ground here is to have an interest in motorcycle.ćArea Poker Runs and other events frequented by members of the group.
